Brad Shepherd, PE
Brad Shepherd has practiced professional engineering for fifty years as an electrical engineer and engineering manager in industry. He has an additional ten years prior experience as a working electrician, electronics technician and electrical project cost estimator in the commercial, residential, aerospace and marine environment.
Brad has served as Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Edison Electric Institute and as Chairman of the Distribution Committee of the Southeastern Electric Exchange. He has served on committees of The Electric Power Research Institute and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He is a member of The Florida Engineering Society, and The National Society of Professional Engineers. He is a Board Certified Diplomate in Forensic Engineering by National Academy of Forensic Engineers
(NAFE®), a program accredited by the Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards. His participation in and supervision of lightning research studies resulted in significant developments in lightning protection theory and technology. He was instrumental in the evolution of underground cable design and the development of underground electrical utility equipment design and construction standards. His engineering cost studies and professional opinions have been accepted by Federal, State and County courts, Insurance Adjusters and Underwriters. He has assisted in litigation support and served as an expert witness, and as a neutral Arbitrator. He has provided investigation and consultation for insurance adjusters in the settlement of property damage claims.
Brad is no longer accepting assignments from new clients as the engineer-of-record. He continues to practice as Chairman of J. B. Shepherd & Company and as consultant to our associates and clients.
